Our North Carolina Business Law Attorneys

Fourscore Business Law handles the majority of our clients’ work internally. Our experience serving as outside general counsel for our clients allows us to efficiently work with highly-talented lawyers outside our four walls, when necessary, to deliver an excellent customer experience that entrepreneurs, investors and business people love. The team is in growth mode, and we intend to retain the Fourscore Principles as we expand. Jesse Jones spent six years practicing in Big Law in Delaware and North Carolina before helping scale a young law firm in Durham over a two year period. Now, he’s at the opposite end of the spectrum, applying the Fourscore Principles to build a law firm for a new generation of businesses.

Jesse also regularly represents individuals, angel groups and venture funds in their investment activities.Jesse is a South Jersey native and graduated with a degree in exercise science from Eastern University in the Mainline area just outside Philadelphia. Although he has lived in North Carolina for years and graduated from Wake Forest Law School, he will never give up on his Philadelphia sports teams. Doug Colvard
Doug is a lawyer with Fourscore Business Law and primarily practices in the areas of corporate and business law. Prior to joining in 2018, Doug worked for several years in the financial services industry, focusing primarily in the derivatives and brokerage space before leaving to join Fourscore. Prior to his legal career, Doug worked at a venture backed startup, in investment banking, and was an educational consultant.

Doug advises and assists enterprises ranging from start-ups, middle-market companies, and multi-national corporations across a broad range of industries including finance, technology, health care, manufacturing, advertising, and software to name a few. Doug also regularly assists closely-held businesses in a wide variety of contexts including business formation and organization.

Though a great deal of Doug’s energy is devoted to his law practice, Doug enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, and two dogs (a lab rescue and a golden retriever), as well as spending time outside running, playing tennis, golfing, skiing, and traveling. Their favorite vacation destination is Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. Doug and his wife are also becoming DIY house project experts (although he's best suited sticking to legal advice).
